Thursday, January 26, 2006 - Where did all the sand go?

You may have noticed the inverted umbrellas on our weather chart over the last few days. These winds are known as the Levante and have scoured the sand from many of the beaches along much of the Costa del Sol, including I am afraid Benalmadena. The Ayuntamiento have already promised to have it replaced before the Easter holidays, lets hope that they are true to their word.

Friday, January 06, 2006 - Smoking Laws in action

The last few days in and around Arroyo's smaller bars (including the spanish operated) has been quite amusing. Some decided to be non smoking and allow children and others elected to come down on the side of the smokers and forgo children and food. Then rumour began to run rife and now virtually all of them have reverted to pre Jan 1st 2006 and are allowing smoking, serving food and permitting children. It seems that the new law actually says that bars of under 100 sq m can be smoking bars and as long as children under 18 are accompanied by their parents they are allowed inside. Although they must post a large (at least A3) black bordered sign on the door stating their position in spanish (at least spanish) We will see what changes over the next few days or weeks

Tuesday, January 03, 2006 - FREE Costa Classifieds

At the same time our forum was hacked we also lost our sister site http://www.freecostaclassifieds.com which at the time was carrying well over 100 classified ads. It has taken me a while but I have restored the site using CGI instead of the seemingly more vulnable php but we have to start all over again as the ads were lost in the hack. If you have any thing to advertise or you need anything that relates to the Costa del Sol, the service is FREE and I hope will soon be filling with useful ads Cheers, John
